I think it would be a really good movie it has a lot of potential I think it would also appeal to a larger audience then Twilight did, don't get me wrong I absolutely love the Twilight saga I just thought it was more for teens, girls, and some women but not that much of a huge guy fan base... Think of it The Host has more suspense and action and a crazier story line many people could go see it because it would be intriguing not just a selected few like I said and I agree they can't make all of her books into movies it has to have enough of a demand for it you know with book sells and all that before it can be turned into a adaptation...plus I think the whole Twilight stuff is connected to it so if people don't like Twilight or the other movies don't go as well (even though I'm sure they'll be great even with a different director)they'll just compare it to that and not differentiate the two and judge it before it has a chance it worries me some :[... but enough of the negatives I'm sure it could be done and maybe it will p.s. oh and I forgot to say since it is a "adult novel" and not a "teen novel" they ummm can add some more spicy stuff to it, higher rating then PG-13 catch my drift lol *wink wink*;]

I deffinatly wish they would make a movie. But if you think about it, alot of the book is Wanda/Melanie thinking, which would be hard to portray in a movie, but I think they could tweak it to where it would make an awesome movie.
I really hoep they do!!

Yeah, and maybe...as much as I looooove the book, they can make a movie based on it, same story, same characters ect ect, jut add more external conflict (as if there wasn't enough) instead of all those convoersations that Mel and Wanda had.

i think it would be *no offense* but kind of a dull movie, because most of it is just her and Mel thinking, or Jared eating cheetos and watching her. imagine, there's a girl just standing in a desert, talking to herself for 1/3 of the movie

I think Lucy's right. Pluss when you enjoy a book a lot the movie never lives up to your expectations.

i'm kinda in agreement with Lucy. most of the book IS just Mel and Wanda talking. i'm not sure that that would translate well into a movie situation. don't get me wrong, i also agree that were The Host made into a movie, it would have a much larger fan base due to the content and the themes in the book, and i would totally love it. there are a lot of things in the book that would translate well into a movie...the love dramas, the whole 'world taken over by aliens' thing, a lot of it would be good. so if they could figure out a way to work the Wanda/Mel mind situation, i'm all for it!

I for one am not a fan of books being made into movies. Don't get me wrong I love being able to see the charactors I love come to life, but with movies they have to cut too much of the story out. It probably wouldn't make as much as a movie, but I think maybe a mini-series would be a good idea. That way they could go more indepth. Spend more time on the story and the charactors. Not have to cut so much out. In my opinion that would be a good idea. On Sci-Fi maybe?
By the way I'm T. Hi. New to the boards. Just finished The Host and I really, really hope Stephenie decides to do a sequel. I absolutely love her writing.

Yea it would be a [glow=yellow,2,300]GREAT[/glow] movie but they would have to pick a better director than they did for twilight... Cause they made the movie stray really far from the book in twilight and you really COULDN'T cut anything out of the host... It would totally RUIN the whole story!! But yea they should SOOOOO TOTALLY MAKE IT A MOVE!!!!

Ohh- What about Dakota Fanning for Pet/Wanda? She is the exact perfect age, short, pretty, young looking, blonde, if they curled her hair she's be a pretty good fit.

if they made a movie of this book i hope it wouldn't disapoint me because i really enjoyed reading it. They could do the thinking part like in LOTR when Gollum talks to himself. But not quite te same though.

I would love to see this book turned into a movie even though Wanda has allot of eternal conversation with Mel { which they could mess around with there is plenty of awesome cinematography and their conversations really aren’t that boring I found myself rather enthralled with the internal debates: )} There Is an equal amount of conflict and suspense. The fact that there is an awesome love story is just a lovely bonus... Any way I could use a break from the Twilight craze (not that I don’t love the books because I do... just would like to see something new

if they make it into a movie, i hope they take their time with it, it took them like 6 months for some of the twilight movies, and there are so many complicated parts to work with, it would be a shame if they had to cut to much out
