i have to say Ian, because even when he was strangling Wanda in that cave he still didn't really want to. he felt major guilt. also, he showed willingness to NOT be prejudice. He thought of Wanda when those poor souls bodies were all over the hospital and he loves Wanda for what she is, not like Jared, who immediately hated her, but (thankfully) couldn't get the guts to put her out of her misery. all for Melanie, which was as good as it being for himself. and he truly loves Mel. so i think if i were choosing who I would like, it would be Ian, hands down. and if it were for Wanda, of course, Ian. but for Mel, it will always be Jared.

Ian hated her too. he's not a bit better than the other human!

yea... I just kinda wish SM would've wrote just a lil bit more about Jared...so we could've gotten to know him better instead of everyone hating him =(

yes I wish that too. The readers should have the same chance to like them. I'm sick of all those people who just read the book and hate him. They should think how this story had to be from his point first. SM's books aren't always clear. You must read between the lines to understand everything. if you still hate him then: okay that's you're opinion.

It seems to me like Ian is only wandas "number two choice". She was like:" d**n it. i can't get Jared, but there's still Ian. Better than nothing." this isn't against Ian. I just want to know if you noticed that too or if I imagined something.

Ian. I can understand Jared's veiw on the situation and i don't condemn or condon him. I understand. However there is something in his personality, something in the way he acts. I think it's his stubborness. I am stubborn myself but Jared just pushes it to a level that is annoying to even me.
Ian on the underhand understood Wander. He accepted her, accepted she wasn't human but wasn't like other souls either, and didn't care. He loves her no matter what. And that's what makes me go for Ian.

I like Ian, my name kind says so but the way that Stephenie Meyer makes Wanderer think about him, it is hard not to love him. I like Jared, he sounds cool, but he confuses me cuz in one chapter he loves Wanderer and in another he loves Melanie. I do like Jared's name. Did anyone else ever notice that Stephenie Meyer likes the name Jared. There's the wolf, Jared in Twilight and then Jared Howe in The Host!!! I have to know if anyone else noticed that.

I can't choose!!!!!!!!! Jared is such a great guy who can really love a girl but then Ian is a sweet caring guy who can love just as much??? AHHHHHHHHHH *i'm getting a chainsaw to cut open my head so i don't have to make this decision!!!!*
What's weird is i get really guilty if i start to like a character from a book because that character has another girl so i feel like i'm stealing them away from them (I know it's just a book) So i just make up my dream guy and add him to the caves!!! hehehe

Ian all the way! He is kinder, gentler, more understanding, and loves Wanderer not for what she looks like but what she's like. He's unbelievably sweet. and I fell in love with the line: "I held you in my hand, Wanderer. And you were so beautiful."

Jared had his rights 2 be mad at first but should have been more excepting more towards the beginning. So not him for being so narrow minded and stobbron. (but i still love him so no hard feelings). Ian becuase he also had the right 2 be angry at first but quickly became understanding and compassionante. then fell in love with Wanderer (i am so jealous! jk!) as wanderer put it "Ian is as gentle to be a soul but strong like only a human could be"
